Preparation of road map for mainstreaming wind energy in India

The project aims at promoting wind power by (a) quantifying the benefits associated with wind power vis -a vis implications of the conventional electricity and (b) sensitising the regulators and other relevant decision makers (both the state/regional and central levels) about the benefits of mainstreaming the wind power The main activities contributing to development of overall plan of action 1. To comput the benfits accrued through wind power eg environmental, social and economic benfits in quantative terms. Besides this would include life cycle cost anlysis and computation of financial cost of generation as well as marginal cost of wind power. 2. To identify the main barri\ers restraining the accelerated growtyh of wind power in India, and suggest the measure to overcome them. 3. To sensitise theregulators, decision makers and utilities through interactive meets. In these workshops., discussions would be initiated on the basis of case studies and other identified issues. 4. To prepare a road map based on the study and feedback received on meets.
