
Ms Suruchi Bhadwal is a climate impacts, vulnerability and adaptation expert contributing to research and consultancy work for nearly 25 years now in related domains. Currently she leads the work on Climate Change and Air Quality at TERI with a focus on scientific assessments with linkages to policy and practice. Her main work focuses on undertaking climate risk assessments for various sectors including agriculture, water, health and infrastructure and developing strategies for Adaptation. She has been using mixed methods for her research with the use of quantitative and qualitative tools.
Over the years she has contributed to climate risk assessments for various sectors and has provided inputs to national policymaking with inputs to the national communications, BUR and BTR reports. She has also contributed to the long term, low emission development strategies, LT LEDS with inputs to the report for both Mitigation and Adaptation. Her current engagement is with the development of India’s National Adaptation Plan and she is contributing to the development of Chapter on Traditional Knowledge and Heritage. She has recently also contributed to development of Climate and Health Reports for 11 countries in the Indo-Pacific region. Besides, she has also contributed to development of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Framework for Adaptation in the Agriculture and Health sectors through an evaluation of a slew of national policies and plans developed for implementation. She has for the World Bank contributed to independent M&E of a large Programme implemented on Climate Resilient Agriculture. She has been influencing decision making through contributions to various Committees in several national and international Forums.
Ms Bhadwal has a Masters in Environmental Sciences from Hissar in Haryana.
