Five Days Program on Low Carbon High Growth Pathways

TERI is engaging with the State of Bihar on issues related to climate change. A five day residential capacity building program was organized for the officials of Bihar state government from 24-28 June 2013 with the support from DFID (Department for International Development) at TERI Retreat, Gual Pahari. The theme of the program was 'Low Carbon Green Growth Pathways'. The program had participation from the Department of Transport, Energy, Water Resources, Environment and Forest, Bihar State Pollution Control Board and Bihar Industries Association. Resource persons from different areas engaged with the officials during the workshop through presentations, panel Discussions, and group activities. Few case-studies and best practices from different states were also discussed resonating possibilities for Bihar in the area of climate change mitigation on themes such as energy access and renewables, agriculture and role of mycorrhiza, water resource management, and sustainable habitat. The program was highly appreciated by State officials on its inter-disciplinary format and there was a general consensus on such programs being held at Patna for sector specific departments and for district level administrations.
