In this summer edition of Take 3, Mr Shaurya Anand, Research Associate, TERI, explores the science behind heatwaves and the growing risks of extreme heat in North India. He shares smart, sustainable ways to stay cool, focusing on practical, energy-efficient methods that also help reduce our climate impact.
Home to 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity, forests absorb around 2.6 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO₂) each year—nearly one-third of the CO₂ emitted from fossil fuel use—making them powerful allies in the fight against climate change. Protecting forests is essential for maintaining biodiversity and sustaining the planet’s ecological balance.
