  • TERI in collaboration with ONGC organized 'One Lakh Paper Bags Campaign' under the 'Soldiers of the Earth' Project

    TERI, in association with ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation), organized the One Lakh Paper Bags Campaign under the TERI-ONGC Soldiers of the Earth project to sensitize the youth about environmental issues. The campaign was held at the Ambedkar Auditorium, ONGC Nazira, Assam, on 29 February 2012. Four leading schools from Nazira and the neighbouring Sibasagar district-Kendriya Vidyalaya, ONGC, Nazira, DPS Nazira, Kendriya Vidyalaya ONGC, Sibasagar, Holy Name School, Sibasagar participated with enthusiasm and zeal. The day-long programme culminated with students distributing paper bags to shopkeepers in the nearby markets.

    Dr Abdullah announced that a national institution for renewable energy in collaboration with TERI is in the pipeline, which will promote the importance of renewable. Dr R K Pachauri, Director General, TERI, said that there is a building boom in India that is only going to accelerate. Thus there is a need to build in a way that does not get locked in inefficiency. To bring about a major change, ratings based on solid scientific principles, architectural techniques and methods that stand the test of times are essential. TERI has been at the forefront of this and is fortunate to get MNRE's support and encouragement in this process.

    'Akshay Urja Bhawan', office building of the Haryana Department of Renewable Energy and HAREDA, has been awarded for 'Exemplary Demonstration of Integration of Solar Passive Features' during National Conference on Green Design 2012 held at New Delhi. Stating this, a HAREDA spokesman said this award was given away by Mr Arun Maira, Member Planning Commission and Dr R K Pachauri, Director General, TERI and President, ADARSH (Association for Development and Research on Sustainable Habitats) during the conference which was organized by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, TERI and ADARSH.

    ADaRSH, a platform to facilitate a pan-India, ongoing interaction and networking between building professionals, developers and government officials in association with TERI and the MNRE (Ministry of New and Renewable Energy), Govt of India, organized a two-day 'National Conference on 'Green Design' and also launched the SvaGRIHA Rating System. In his address Dr Farooq Abdullah, Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Govt of India, while expressing concern about the way the buildings sector is growing, lauded TERI, ADaRSH and Ministry for creating awareness about GRIHA Rating.

  • CWG Village gets Green Award

    The CWG (Common Wealth Games Village)- residential project, constructed by one of India's premier real estate developers EMAAR MGF Construction Pvt. Ltd., was conferred with the prestigious GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment) plaque for its green building design initiative. The CWG has been awarded Two Star TERI-GRIHA - rating. GRIHA is India's National Rating System for green building 'design evaluation system'. GRIHA has been conceived by TERI and developed jointly with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
