Speaking to the media after receiving the Green Globe Foundation Award for outstanding contribution by a celebrity for his active role in creating widespread awareness on the issues affecting the earth, the actor said his role model in the field of environment was undoubtedly TERI Director-General Dr R K Pachauri whose dissemination about basic things that individuals can do to reduce carbon footprints helped him to become a responsible citizen.

    Chief minister of Assam, Mr Tarun Gogoi, shared the platform with former California governor and Hollywood action star Arnold Schwarzenegger at the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit 2012 with the theme Protecting the Global Commons: 20 Years Post Rio in New Delhi where attendees pledged to do their bit to tackle the global problem of climate change. World leaders, environmentalists and experts from across the globe attended the summit to prepare a roadmap for attaining sustainable development worldwide. The 12th edition of the summit organized by TERI, was inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.

    With the growing need for developing alternative methods through specialized education to create a sustainable living, TERI University graduates at their convocation ceremony, dedicated themselves to the importance of environmental protection and the need to maintain equity, ecological security, and the wealth of global natural resources. TERI University held its Fourth Convocation ceremony today in which 9 students were conferred doctoral degrees and 157 students were awarded master's degrees. HE Col. James Alix Michel, President of the Republic of Seychelles, was the Chief Guest at the occasion along with Dr RK Pachauri, Chancellor, TERI University and Director-General, TERI.
