Workshop on "Knowledge Access: Digital Convergence at the Bottom of the Pyramid"
TERI Library and Information Center (TERI LIC) hosted a workshop on 'Knowledge Access: Digital Convergence at the Bottom of the Pyramid' under the umbrella of the 3rd India Public Libraries Conference (IPLC) 2017 on October 5, 2017, at the India Habitat Center, New Delhi. Around 40 participants, mainly comprising of public librarians and researchers from agricultural area, attended the workshop. The main objective of the workshop was to bridge the information divide and leverage advancements in ICT to the benefit of the rural populace.
The workshop began with the inaugural session where Mr Prabir Sengupta, Distinguished Fellow and Director, Knowledge Management (KM) Division, TERI, delivered the welcome address and Dr P K Bhattacharya, Fellow and Area Convenor, Knowledge Management Division, TERI, set the theme for the workshop. The speakers Mr Amit Kumar, Senior Programme Director, TERI; Dr Shantanu Ganguly, Fellow, KM Division, TERI; Mr Vinay Kumar, Regional Director, Asia and Global Initiatives, Digital Green; Mr Syed Kazi, Deputy Director, Digital Empowerment Foundation; Mr Satish Nagaraji, Manager, ICRISAT; Dr Geeta Malhotra, Country Director, READ India; Mr Tauseef Khan, Founder, gramophone.co.in and Ms Nancy Anabel, Director, Information Education and Communication, M S Swaminathan Research Foundation shared their valuable experiences and case studies about issues related to sanitation, agriculture, infrastructural development, health, capacity development, skill development, and digital illiteracy in rural areas and latest technology developments and their apt usage in different parts of the rural sector.
