New Zealand - India Sustainability Challenge
The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and Education New Zealand are proud to announce the 'New Zealand- India Sustainability Challenge'- first ever competition connecting students from India and New Zealand. The objective of the Challenge is to encourage scalable, sustainable solutions for environmental and societal challenges which will inspire the next generation of young leaders. The participants will need to identify problems in or around their campus and design appropriate solutions through use of innovative cutting edge sustainable practices.
The competition will be open to undergraduate students (between 18-22 years) from recognized colleges/ universities and institutes in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Delhi NCR comprising of two students and a faculty member as a team. Teams will be shortlisted on the basis of an application form. The shortlisted teams will compete amongst one another by presenting their campaign idea at the regional rounds to be held in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. Based on the presentations, TERI and ENZ identified evaluators will shortlist two teams from each region for the finale. These 6 finalist teams will have an opportunity to work alongside their New Zealand counterparts to develop scalable, sustainable solutions to problems facing the environment and society and will get guidance from world-leading experts. At the finale, to be held in Bengaluru in December 2017, the teams will be judged by an international and national panel of judges. Based on their feedback, the winning team from India will get a chance tto win a three week all-expense paid internship at the New Zealand partner universities - University of Canterbury (www.canterbury.ac.nz), University of Otago (www.otago.ac.nz) and University of Waikato (www.waikato.ac.nz). The internship will include classroom lectures, industry engagement and a chance to collaborate with New Zealand undergraduate students.
