Feasibility Study for a Pilot Project Comprising Biomass Gasifier, Heat Engine for Micro-Grid in Rural India
Work Package 3

The work package aims to establish the technical feasibility of integrated solution i.e. biomass gasifier with Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) based combined heat and power (CHP) applications to meet the energy requirements of the agro industries, to map the potential clusters based on replication potential and shortlisting few pilot demonstration projects for enhancing income opportunities for the rural communities.

Main Activities

  • Integration of biomass gasifier with ORC based CHP System to meet the heating, cooling and electricity needs of the agro enterprises and to increase the income of the farmers

The activity included literature review, identification of cluster and technology and engaging with the stakeholders, manufacturers and end-users.

  • Overall efficiency Improvement using Waste Heat stream for cold storage/electricity application generation

The main activity included baseline study: type of fuel used, furnace type, efficiencies, system configuration, costing and techno economic analysis, Identifying pilots and market potential assessment
