4.2 Automated Metadata

Automated metadata extraction is still not very widely used in digital preservation workflows indexing perhaps
due to skill-gap in using advanced technologies or due to higher price attached to it. However, automated
extraction can not only help improve efficiency in time and resource management within preservation
systems, but also alleviate the problems associated with the ‘metadata bottleneck’. The successful application
of automated metadata extraction requires informed solutions that are based on a broad understanding
and integration of the existing methods and tools. In particular, solutions should include the identification of
weak links in the metadata collection workflow to highlight the components requiring further development,
and be firmly grounded in strict quality control at each stage of extraction.

4.3 Gamification
Gamification is an emerging trend that frames learning in the easily accessible format of a game. Games are
increasingly being used for everything, from elementary school education to professional training. Game
mastery helps promote many skills, including maths, logic, spatial reasoning, reading, and writing. KRCs can
also serve as a meeting place for players, offering the opportunity for socialization through gaming.
4.4 Virtual Reality

The virtual reality (VR) technology provides the user with a headset that transports them to immersive
destinations where they can look up, down, and around simply by moving their heads. Libraries have long
served as critical access points for new technologies. When computers and the internet were still new
innovations, the local library was often the easiest place for users to get online. Today, KRCs can have the
