National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a project initiated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) as a part of its National Mission titled Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). National Digital Library of India is developed by IIT Kharagpur.
The objective of NDLI is to make digital educational resources available to all citizens of the country to empower, inspire and encourage learning. NDLI is pushing the frontiers of Digital Library and Knowledge Engineering research to new heights through its deep focus on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Science.
The webinar provided the glimpse of NDLI project and its impact on the society with special reference to developments on various cutting edge research in NLDI including 'Compute Platform for AI', Medical Data Bank (CHAVI project, cancer imaging database), OCR for Indian Languages, and Metadata Engineering.
Dr. Partha Pratim Das is the Joint Principal Investigator of National Digital Library of India project of MHRD, Govt. of India and leads the initiative to integrate the Digital Repositories of various Institutions, and publishers across India. He is a Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kharagpur, heads the Rajendra Mishra School of Engineering Entrepreneurship and is the Professor-in-Charge of IIT Kharagpur Research Park at Rajarhat, Kolkata.
His current interests include Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Analysis of Indian Classical Dance, Technology-Enhanced Learning, and Software Engineering.
Dr. Das has received several recognitions including UNESCO/ROSTSCA Young Scientist (1989), INSA Young Scientist Award (1990), Young Associate-ship of Indian Academy of Sciences (1992), UGC Young Teachers' Career Award (1993), INAE Young Engineer Award (1996), Interra Special (Process) Recognition (2009), and Interra 10 Years' Tenure Plaque (2011). He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Institution of Engineers: Series B.
Dr Shantanu is a professional incumbent with a profound knowledge in implementation of Knowledge Management system. At present he is working as the Fellow in the Knowledge Management Division of TERI and recipient of "Roll of Honour" for outstanding contribution in the organization. Shantanu has handled several leading projects of TERI. He has been an integral part of the projects of bi-lateral, multi-lateral and government bodies, in setting up their knowledge management systems, database management systems and devising communication strategy and content management. He has also developed several Professional Development Programmes, and given a new dimension to the capacity building programmes. An excellent orator in Infopreneurship, Knowledge Management, Business Communication Strategy, Project Management and Social Media Marketing and Digital Marketing.
