Open access is a broad international academic drive that pursues free and open online access to academic information, such as publications and data within the legal agreements.
In this virtual conference a panel of experts discussed and highlighted the need and significance of open access movement in today's fastest growing scholarly world.
Sridhar Gutam PhD (Plant Physiology) from IARI, New Delhi is in the Agricultural Research Service since 2004. Currently he is working as a Senior Scientist at ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru. His interests in the Open Access movement made him to launch 'Open Access India', an online community which is working for the advocacy on Open Access and is creating various e-infrastructure facilities like AgriXIv.org and IndiaRxiv.org for the researchers to share their research outputs publicly. He is inducted into the Creative Commons Global Network and is a member of the CLACSO Working Group on Bienes comunes y acceso abierto (2016-2019) and is on the board of Thesis Commons as well. He is involved in the launch of OAJMAP first open access journal in ICAR and actively contributed to the Open Access policy development and adoption by the ICAR. He can be reached @SridharGutam.
Professor Savithri Singh is a trained botanist. Over the years her interest broadened to science education, then to open education. An evangelist for free and open content as well open software since 2006, she strongly believes that education has to become accessible to everyone.

Dr. G. Mahesh is a Senior Principal Scientist at the CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (NISCAIR). At NISCAIR, he Heads the Information and Human Resources Division that includes the National Science Library, ISSN National Centre, scientometrics unit, training courses, etc.
He is also a Professor at the Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research (AcSIR) where he teaches S&T communication. He has published research papers in national and international journal including journals such as Scientometrics, Libri, Program, Electronic Library, etc.
He is currently the Editor of Annals of Library and Information Studies and the Editor-designate of COLLNET Journal of Scientometrics and Information Management.
