Creating innovative solutions
for a sustainable tomorrow
Our Journey in 2019

As a knowledge institution, we constantly strive to create solutions that can transform people’s lives and the environment.
We work hard to influence policymaking for sustainable development, but this means we work harder on the ground - in remote villages,
in urban habitats, in schools, fields, factories and forests, learning as much from the wisdom of people whose lives we hope to improve.
Spread across different corners of India, these are glimpses of our teams at work in 2019.

In Varanasi, TERI, supported by Indus Towers, installed solar PV systems for the city’s handlooms to supplement the irregular power supply with clean energy. Financing solutions and technical training were also provided to beneficiaries to help maintain the systems.
With support from Power Finance Corporation (PFC), TERI set up 23,437 solar lighting and clean cooking systems in Bihar. The project won PFC the National CSR Award 2018 for Contribution to National Priority Schemes in 2019.

Installation of a geothermal-based heat pump system for space cooling and heating underway at the Community Health Centre, Kimin, in Papum Rare, Arunachal Pradesh. The system is a first of its kind in the country that takes advantage of the earth’s relatively constant temperature, below a certain depth, to provide thermal comfort inside the building.
