Research Associate(Carbon Finance)


Job Profile

1. Support the design, implementation, and monitoring of carbon finance and restoration projects.
2. Conduct field surveys, monitoring & evaluation, and consultancy tasks in forestry, agroforestry, restoration, and natural resource management.
3. Conduct financial modelling, economic feasibility assessments, and cost-benefit analysis for forestry, biodiversity, and climate projects.
4. Support public finance reviews, budget tracking, and economic analysis.
5. Prepare project reports, monitoring documents, stakeholder consultation material, and communication outputs.
6. Support the drafting of project proposals, RFPs, and EOIs across carbon finance, forest restoration, wildlife, NRM, community, and value chain initiatives.
7. Participate in internal/external meetings, workshops, and dissemination activities.
8. Contribute to publications, including scientific papers and policy briefs.
9. Use GIS/Remote Sensing tools (ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth) and digital data collection tools (KoboToolbox, eBird, iNaturalist.
10. Willingness to travel for fieldwork and project-related activities (domestic/international)


Prior experience with:
- Carbon finance projects (under VERRA, Gold Standard, Plan Vivo, or CDM frameworks).
- Field survey experience, wildlife monitoring, habitat assessment, or human-wildlife conflict mitigation.
- Application of RS-GIS and data collection tools (KoboToolbox, eBird, iNaturalist)
OR
- Experience with financial modelling, budget analysis, public and private finance assessment, economic feasibility studies.
- Strong skills in qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Ability to analyze socio-economic data and prepare evidence-based reports.


Experience

3 - 5 Years


Qualification

- Master-s degree in forestry- Wildlife Science- Natural Resource Management- Environmental Management- or related fields.
OR
- MA - Sociology- Development Studies- Environmental Economics- Public Policy- etc.


Skills

1. Knowledge of carbon finance standards and markets - VERRA (VCS)- Gold Standard- Plan Vivo - and their monitoring/verification requirements.
2. Understanding of forestry- ecological principles- and natural resource management.
3. Basic wildlife identification skills and familiarity with biodiversity monitoring methods.
4. Ability to conduct socio-economic surveys- FGDs- and community-based data collection.
5. Microsoft Office Suite (Word- Excel- PowerPoint- etc.)- Email communication skills; Basic understanding of statistical packages.
6. Report writing- communication- and presentation skills
