Job Profile

- Prepare research proposals, and support design of research on sustainable coastal agriculture systems (e.g., salt tolerant crops, brackish water irrigation, aquaculture agriculture integration, khazan ecosystems)
- Plan and execute field surveys/trials in coastal zones: sample collection (soil, water, crops), monitor crop/plant performance, manage data collection.
- Analyse data (statistical/graphical), prepare technical reports, presentations for stakeholders including farmers and policy agencies, training module, publications.
- Engage with farming communities and extension agencies in coastal rural areas; support capacity-building/training of farmers.
- Engage with partner organizations (government, NGO, communities) as required.
- Business travel depending on project requirements.
- Support other relevant projects as and when required.

Qualification

- MSc (Agricultural Sciences / Agronomy / Soil Science / Coastal Agriculture / Sustainability and Agri- Solution or equivalent.
- Experience (1 3 years) in coastal zone/agriculture interface- field work in coastal/rural settings- sampling & monitoring. Fresher can also apply depending on their allied dissertation works in masters.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools (Excel- R/Python- GIS)
- Good communication (written & oral)- ability to write reports and interact with rural communities.

Skills

Knowledge of saline/brackish water systems- salt tolerant crops- aquaculture agriculture integration in coastal belt. Knowledge on rice-based ecosystem and nature-based solutions- FPO.
