  • Educators Workshop on Environment, Sustainable Development and Green Skills
  • The Energy & Resources Institute (TERI) is working extensively with schools across the country with a purpose of having an environmentally aware and sustainability conscious young citizenry. A step in this direction is the Educators Workshops on Environment, Sustainable Development and Green Skills which will be organised from 07 – 22 September 2021 for teachers across the country. It is our endeavour to reach out to teachers, build their capacity on locale specific environmental concern and spread awareness about TERI’s flagship initiatives.

  • With the pandemic becoming the norm of existence, TERI in partnership with National Council for Science and Technology Communication, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India initiated a programme titled, “Promoting Science & Health Communication through Outreach and Capacity Building of School Students and Linked Communities”. The objectives are to build capacity of the young brigade and their linked communities in science, health and personal behaviours and to develop scientific temper amongst educators for adopting sustainable healthy lifestyles. The project will be implemented in Delhi & NCR, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Mumbai. Interested teachers and students can write to us at eea@teri.res.in.

  • Changemakers for Climate Action
  • Date: September 20, 2021

    About the Project:
    Embassy of Italy and TERI organised an online ‘National Youth Forum’ as part of Changemakers for Climate Action (CCA) where a ‘Youth Working Document’ was presented. The event was held in the presence of HE Mr Vincenzo de Luca, Ambassador of Italy to India; HE Mr Ugo Astuto, Ambassador of the European Union to India; HE Mr Alexander Ellis, British High Commissioner to India; Mr Neelesh Kumar Sah, Joint Secretary, Climate Change, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India and Dr Vibha Dhawan, Director General, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). The CCA initiative undertook an assessment of current perceptions and knowledge level of youth on environmental issues of concern, as a first step, followed by understanding the youth prioritization of climate action and drafting of ‘Youth Working Document’ which was also presented at the Forum and taken forward to the pre- COP26 youth event, ‘Youth4Climate’ at Milan in September 2021.
    Special inputs from youth participants selected to attend COP 26 was also a major highlight of the programme along with sharing of perspective on climate change science & policy mainstreaming and youth prioritization on climate action. The event was attended by more than 300 participants across the country through the online platform and YouTube live streaming.

  • THE GREEN BOOT CAMP

    About the Camp:
    The Environment Education and Awareness (EEA) Area at TERI has been working extensively with youth across the country on issues related to environment and sustainability. Given the current pandemic situation worldwide and with schools across the country being shut, we are organizing THE GREEN BOOT CAMP. This bootcamp is a well curated program that covers three important aspects i.e. Environment and sustainability, Health and well-being and Skill development.

  • Youth Climate Conclave 2nd Edition

    1. Category A: 10 – 18 years
    2. Category B: 19 – 25 years

    About the Conclave:
    In order to facilitate engagement, education and empowerment of Indian youth about the challenges of Climate Change, the 2nd edition of “Youth Climate Conclave” (YCC) is being organized. YCC is being held under the SPIPA (Strategic Partnership for the Implementation of the Paris Agreement) project with Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, GoI as the nodal ministry. The SPIPA project is being implemented by GIZ-India along with the support of Delegation of the European Union to India. The YCC activity is being implemented by TERI in partnership with GIZ-India and CEEW. This conclave is envisaged as a competitive and an educative mode of action, wherein youth from across the country will come together to join hands and address the issues of climate change.
    Winners will have the chance to attend the Youth Climate Conclave 2021 leading to preparation of the Youth Declaration on Climate Action 2021. Due to an uncertainty (posed by COVID 19) regarding organisation of on-ground events the exact nature of Youth Climate Conclave 2021 is yet to be decided.

  • Wildlife Week Celebration - Expert Talk

    About the event:
    Conservation must be interesting and passion driven by interest. Creative and visual arts be it poetry, music, art and illustrations; all draw inspiration from nature and the flora and fauna around us, as they say, Nature is the best teacher! Through this highly interactive and entertaining session the speakers will share their experience of drawing Inspiration from nature in their art work. They will also share a few tips for cool art!

  • Wildlife Week Celebration - Expert Talk
  • Date: October 06, 2020

    About the event:
    As part of the Ex-situ and In-situ Conservation Linkages, the session focuses on Gharial (Gavialis gangeticus), a critically endangered species inhabiting few locations across India and Nepal. It is a truly aquatic crocodilian and a specialist in its ecological paradigm. Zoos across India have recognised the conservation need for this species and have put in tremendous efforts to breed this specialist reptile. Several zoos have successfully released Gharial bred in their captive collections back into the wild. The talk will showcase initiatives in the Indian subcontinent on Gharial conservation and monitoring and establish the close connection zoos have with species conservation in the wild in India and in Nepal.

  • Prelude to CZA Campaign RoAR (Respect and Revive)- Nationwide e-competitions
  • Date: 16 September - 28 September
    Time: All day
    About the event:
    CZA Campaign RoAR (Respect and Revive): Exploring Human-Animal Relationships to celebrate Wildlife Week 2020. It aspires to provide a platform to celebrate the beautiful wildlife, and recognise the delicate relationship between humans and animals. Campaign RoAR will be a mix of e-competitions and an online lecture series for students. Registrations are open as a prelude to the campaign i.e. e- Competitions.

    A 'Painting Contest' and a 'Poetry Writing Competition' is now OPEN to students from Classes 3 to 8.
    Themes:
    1. My Favorite Animal (मेरा प्रिय वन्यजीव)
    2. All Wild Animals are My Friends (जंगल शहर में गूंज है, वन्यजीव हमारे दोस्त हैं)

This webinar will serve as an official launch of this prestigious initiative. It is being inaugurated on the eve of World Environment Day where Shri Prakash Javadekar, Hon'ble Minister, Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India, is the chief guest.
