Delhi: Turn off the ignition, get on cycle for trips to market

According to Mr Sharif Qamar, Fellow, Transport and Urban Governance Division, TERI, it is estimated that if bicycles substitute two/four-wheelers for short-distance trips, it can result in an annual benefit of Rs 1.8 trillion, which is equivalent to 1.6% of India’s GDP for 2015–16. These include significant savings on fuel and health benefits due to reduced air pollution.
