As a lead discussant at the 17th Darbari Seth Memorial Lecture, Mr Sinha laid out some of the challenges before the energy sector

Mr Sumant Sinha, Chairman and CEO, ReNew Power was a lead discussant at the 17th Darbari Seth Memorial Lecture on August 29, 2018. Speaking after the lecture, he said that the future of energy will be very different from what we imagine with rapid changes in the energy landscape. He emphasised on the role of the government and said that its policy can be more conducive for faster growth of the sector for which there needs to be more interaction between people on policy and the business side. He also added that the government needs to incentivise investments in power.

The prices of renewable energy have come down much sharper than expected, but India’s grid management needs to become more sophisticated to become the basis for injecting so much renewable energy in the system, he added.
