Website Launch by Honorable Minister

Mr. Sudhir Mungantiwar, Cabinet Minister of Finance & Planning and Forests Department, Government of Maharashtra launched TERI’s Nutrition Security website on April 25th, 2018 at Sahyadri State Guest House, Mumbai.

Malnutrition - A Global Concern

Malnutrition, manifested as under and over nutrition, contributes to lower productivity, higher morbidity and mortality rates, and serious health disorders like obesity, anemia, and diabetes, the percentage of which is alarmingly increasing.

Palghar - A Troubled Paradise

The scenic district, blessed with an unspoiled coast, sacred groves and rich biodiversity is one of the newest districts of Maharashtra state with 30.56% of the population belonging to scheduled tribes. Sadly, over the past decade Palghar has become synonymous with malnutrition and related deaths.

Wild edibles - A Much Needed Alternative to Conventional Food Sources

Although 80,000 species of edible plants are available globally, 90% of our diet comprises just 30 of these. Inclusion of wider nutritious food varieties, especially wild species in diet could be the solution to all our nutritional problems.

Food Fortification - A Practical Approach to Help Overcome Micronutrient Deficiencies

Inclusion of all the food groups into the daily diet will ensure adequate intake of all the essential important macronutrients & micronutrients required for the body. Consumption of a balanced diet is extremely essential in creating nutritional security.
