OPET is a network of Organisations for the Promotion of (clean and efficient) Energy Technologies. This network was created for dissemination of Community research and technology development (RTD) results; promotion of the co-operation with third countries and international organizations in the field of RTD.

The OPET Network operates within the scope of ENERGIE programme within the 5^th EU Framework Programme for Research and Development.

The OPET Network is a unique body, managed by DG TREN of the European Commission. This Network comprises 45 consortia and 108 organisations based in the EU and beyond.
The OPET Network aims (i) to promote the results of new energy technologies and their introduction in society; (ii) to improve energy efficiency; (iii) to increase the diversity of supply; and (iv) to broaden the use of renewable energy sources.
