But, her latest book \'In the Shadow of Leaves\' will be a different experience altogether for its unique concept and the hidden message. The book published by TERI was launched by TERI and Oxford Bookstore. The book launching event was attended by famous Bengali film director Anik Dutta, actor-director- playwright Vinay Sharma and wildlife expert Rishin Basu Roy who shared their thought on the book.The book tells the story of two young kids who stalled the poachers from killing the tigers with the help of the ghost of Jim Corbett. The book launching event marked 139th birth anniversary of Jim Corbett.
Himachal CM seeks Dr Pachauri's inputs for setting up planetarium near Shimla16 July 2014| The News Himachal
In his meeting with Dr R K Pachauri, Director-General of TERI, Mr Virbhadra Singh, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh urged Dr Pachauri to give his valuable inputs for setting up a Planetarium at Anandpur near Shogi in district Shimla which was being set up by the department of Science, Technology & Environment. The Chief Minister said that this would not only help to promote scientific temperament but would also be a source of attraction for tourists. Besides, this would help the stakeholders including farmers to learn about scientific process in the field of agriculture and horticulture.

A workshop on 'waste management' under the national project 'Search' was conducted by TERI at The Millennium School, Mohali. The workshop dwelled upon sensitization, education and awareness on recycling for a cleaner habitat, wherein more than 350 students from 30 Tricity schools took part in the series of activities involving competitions focusing on how to dispose the plastic in an environment friendly way. On the occasion, a session on sustainable consumption too was held for teachers and students which dwelled on spirit of analytical thinking and scientific temperament in saving the environment.

Internationally acclaimed environmentalist Dr R K Pachauri says India urgently needs \'green buildings\' to ensure unsustainable use of energy and water and is happy the government is sharing TERI\'s knowhow in building infrastructure. Explaining the Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) of TERI, Dr Pachauri said it is estimated that most of the buildings projected to be standing in 2030 are yet to be built and that government should ensure these structures abide by the suggested guidelines that address the environmental impact of India\'s construction sector.

The union budget 2014-2015 was high on growth and infrastructure but more could have been done to ensure higher energy security, noted Dr R K Pachauri, Director-General, TERI. Dr Pachauri said that India\'s dependence on oil imports is 80 per cent of its total consumption and current policies of the government will only accentuate this problem.

The bulletin on the post-2015 Development Agenda was presented at TERI. The event also witnessed the launch of TERI\'s annual flagship publication, \"TERI Energy & Environment Data Directory and Yearbook (TEDDY)\". A panel discussion on energy and environment goals in the context of the post-2015 development agenda also followed. TEDDY is a state-of-the-art compilation of energy and environmental data. Since its inception in 1986, the publication has become a reference document and a source of extensive information on energy and environment in India. It is envisaged that TEDDY in future could become a periodic source for a discussion on energy and environment goals after the post-2015 outcome.
TERI, USGBC join hands for green buildings8 July 2014| Business Standard
TERI has inked an agreement with the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) to design and construct green buildings in India. TERI's GRIHA (Green Rating For Integrated Habitat Assessment) project along with USGBC's LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) share common goals in promoting green buildings. Dr R K Pachauri, Director-General of TERI, said that designing and constructing buildings, as envisaged in the GRIHA project, would ensure that India and the world do not get locked into a pattern of resource intensity that would be unsustainable in the long run.

The United Nations\' South Asia Regional Network initiative, Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), was launched at TERI University after a workshop on prioritising sustainability challenges in South Asia. TERI along with BRAC University, Bangladesh, will be the UN\'s regional hub for implementation of global and local Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. Dr R K Pachauri, Director-General, TERI said that Indian society has practised sustainable development for thousands of years, because sustainability was the foundation and the very essence of development in this country. Modern society, with its growing emphasis on consumption-driven lifestyles, needs models of sustainable development that build on modern economic systems and structures. That is where sustainable development solutions are important, and need to be devised by networks of knowledge organisations across the globe.

Power management company Eaton announced the release of its first India Sustainability Report. The report was launched as part of an industry symposium \'Business Leadership for Energy Sustainability in India\' hosted by TERI. Titled \'Powering Sustainable Growth in India 2013\', the report covers the operations owned and managed by Eaton in India for the year 2013 and supplements Eaton\'s global sustainability report, which is published as part of the organization\'s corporate annual report. Eaton in India is a member of TERI Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSD), a forum through which TERI engages with the corporate sector on issues related to sustainable development.
France to partner India on climate change, proposes 1 bn euro credit line1 July 2014| Business Standard
French Foreign Minister Mr Laurent Fabius called for greater cooperation between France and India to tackle climate change and offered a proposed credit line of 1 billion Euro to enable sustainable urban development. Mr Fabius was speaking at a discussion on \"Sustainable development in response to climate change\" organised by the French embassy, TERI and Confederation of Indian Industry. He outlined five areas of concrete cooperation between the two countries--cooperation on carbon-free energy, developing our partnership on civilian nuclear energy, water-management in the context of the ambitious Indian projects on the Ganga and other rivers, urban development, and space and earth observation.
