  • Indian corporates felicitated for environmental excellence and CSR by Mr Kamal Nath

    The TERI Corporate Awards ceremony, an annual event on the corporate calendar since 2000, was held in Delhi today. 13 companies - chosen from among 178 applications received this year - won the prestigious awards in the categories of Environmental Excellence and Corporate Social Responsibility. The Chief Guest, Mr Kamal Nath, Hon'ble Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, presented the awards.

    A 7-member jury, comprising eminent personalities, and chaired by Justice J S Verma, Former Chief Justice of India, selected the winners after a rigorous process. Out of the total 178 applications received, 19 corporates in the CSR category and 13 in environmental excellence were nominated for the final award. The awards finally went to six companies for their initiatives in the sphere of environment while seven of them were felicitated for their CSR practises.

    This year's event, with Vedanta Industries Limited as the principal sponsor and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) as a co-sponsor, involved corporates from a wide cross section of industry. The TERI Awards, instituted by TERI in order to provide impetus to sustainable development and to encourage ongoing processes of environment management and social responsibility within the corporate sector, are the only awards in the country for these categories.
