TERI - BCCR Climate Research School - II 'Beyond Regional Climate Modelling - Best Practices and New Insights'

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi in collaboration with Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research, Norway invites advanced Masters level students, PhD students and early career scientists in the field of climate sciences for a five-day residential research school on regional modelling in New Delhi.

Key topics covered in the lectures

  • Regional climate models: an overview, key concepts and theory
  • Atmospheric and Oceanic sciences
  • Analysis of Multimodel Ensembles using Bayesian Probability Theory
  • Ecosystem modelling
  • Data formats and visualization software used in climate research
  • Hands-on activity on regional climate modelling and Bayesian statistics

Requirements
Since the participation is limited, those interested may fill in the application form and send it to the contact e-mail addresses on or before 25 August 2012. Participants may also arrange a letter of recommendation from head/supervisor (details in the application form). Successful participants will be informed of their selection after the completion of review.

Support
Travel grant will be provided for few participants from developing countries to attend the research school based on financial need and scientific merit of proposed abstract. Grantees must attend the entire research school in order to benefit from the financial support which includes travel and boarding.
