| Background The small and micro enterprises (SMiEs) occupy a position of prominence in developing countries. The sector also accounts for the largest chunk of fresh job creation and industrial production in these countries. Hence, the development of SMiEs provides a unique opportunity to achieve faster economic growth in developing economies. TERI/SDC’s CoSMiLE initiative aims at holistic development of SMiEs through adoption of resource-efficient technologies, human and institutional development and knowledge sharing. The energy-environment technologies developed by TERI under the initiative are exemplary and other countries in South could benefit from its outputs. Apart from cooperation in technology, there are possibilities of South-South cooperation in other related areas such as climate change, biomass energy technologies and decentralized power generation among others. The discussion will focus on understanding the needs of the local community and opportunities to develop South-South cooperation particularly for SMiE development. Representatives of the government and NGO sectors from Africa, India and other developing countries and officials of multilateral and bilateral agencies will be invited to participate in ‘Focus Group Discussion’. Objectives The discussion aims to explore opportunities for South-South cooperation particularly in the area of Small and Micro Enterprise development |
