the Workshop
TERI is empanelled by the ITEC (Indian
Technical and Economic Cooperation) / SCAAP (Special Commonwealth
Assistance for Africa Programme) of the Government of India.
Under this programme, TERI is offering five courses for the
year 2008/09.
Who should attend
The courses are designed to meet the needs of
senior/ mid-career government/ non-government officials from
ITEC/SCCAP countries. The costs of the course, travel and
stay of the participant is borne by ITEC.

Advantages of attending
the course
Increased understanding of various dimensions of energy
efficient technologies, biotechnology, trade and sustainable
development.
Dissemination of practical knowledge to the participants
on energy efficient technologies and pillars of sustainable
development facilitated through field visits.
Wider exposure to India as the course lectures are
complemented by study tours.
Accommodation
The hostel accommodation for the participants
would be in the TERI RETREAT a training complex that is only
a 35-minute drive from the heart of Delhi and is located in
Gual Pahari, Gurgaon away from the bustle of the city. This
36-hectare training complex is a demonstration of sustainable,
green and productive habitat created through application of
scientific methods and technique. The Micro Propagation Technology
Park in TERI GRAM has elaborate infrastructure, modern laboratories,
greenhouses, nurseries, and various plants of forest trees,
fruit crops, vegetable cash crops, foliage and flowering.
It has conference facilities equipped with
state of art amenities, computers, visual projection system
and could accommodate 125 participants. TERI RETREAT is a
proof of sustainable habitat through use of solar hot – water
systems, energy – efficient lighting integrated with daylighting.
The temperature of RETREAT is kept even through out the year
by effective insulation facilitated by network of underground
earth air tunnels negating the use of conventional air – conditioners
and heaters. RETREAT provides an example of efficient use
of natural sources of energy.
Application procedure
Fill up the ITEC/SCAAP application form (downloadable
from http://itec.nic.in/form.htm)
and submit it to the nodal Government Department/Agency designated
to nominate candidates. The nodal Department/Agency will in
turn forward the applications to the Embassy/High Commision
of India. Selected participants would be informed by the Indian
embassies of the respective ITEC/SCAAP countries.
