The Education for Youth Empowerment (EYE) Area of Environment Education and Awareness (EEA) Division at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) has designed a summer programme that enables school students to gain knowledge, enhance their skillsets and obtain access to resources and networks to strengthen their competencies on issues related to environment and sustainable development. Technical sessions by subject experts, hands-on training, internship opportunities and mentoring on sustainability-linked topics are key activities curated within this holistic programme.

Long-term Energy Transition: An Integrated Modelling Approach for Indian Economy (ICEMF)

To develop an energy-economy inter-linked decarbonization roadmap for India for its short (2030), medium (2047), and long (2070) term. An integrated energy-climate-economy modelling framework will be developed for simulating the impacts of exogenous circumstances, global climate policies, national policies, and technology development on India’s energy supply and demand, GHG emissions, and impacts on policy relevant macroeconomic variables.

Pumped Storage Plants - Essential for India's Energy Transition

Pumped Storage Hydropower is a mature and proven technology and operational experience is also available in the country. CEA has estimated the on-river pumped storage hydro potential in India to be about 103 GW. Out of 4.75 GW of pumped storage plants installed in the country, 3.3 GW are working in pumping mode, and about 44.5 GW projects are at various stages of development.

Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), Government of India, has sponsored a study titled ‘Study of Studies’ to The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi to analyse the impact of these studies in NER development. The study is aimed at listing out and compiling various studies conducted from January 2010 to June 2020 in different sectors in the context of the NER, and analyse and compile recommendations of such studies, which would be useful for MDoNER in policy and decision-making purposes and for the benefit of the scientific community and the society.

The programme focusses on learnings about Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), understanding the linkages with various scientific and non-scientific programmes, contesting through identifying challenges on campus, ideating to transform it into environment-friendly space with an aim to ‘walk the talk’ and emphasizing on ‘global’ initiatives.
