The Sixteenth Darbari Seth Memorial Lecture was delivered on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre at 4:00 P.M. The lecture on Renewables versus Fossil Fuels: An Indian Reassessment of Electricity Generation was delivered by Dr Arvind Subramanian, Chief Economic Adviser and presided over by Mr Suresh Prabhu, Hon’ble Minister for Railways, Government of India.

The annual lecture series was initiated by TERI in 2002 in the memory of the institute’s visionary founder and noted technocrat-industrialist, Mr Darbari Seth. Under his guidance, TERI witnessed a meteoric rise and emerged as one of the leading knowledge institutions in the field of sustainability and climate change.

Many of India's eminent luminaries and stalwarts, including Mr N R Narayana Murthy, Mr Sam Pitroda, Mr Anand G Mahindra, Mr Mukesh D Ambani, and Dr Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw have delivered Darbari Seth Memorial Lectures since its inception.
