Report Release: 'Benefits of Cycling in India: An Economic, Environmental, and Social Assessment'

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) will be presenting a study on 'Benefits of Cycling in India: An Economic, Environmental, and Social Assessment'. The report will be released in the presence of Hon'ble Union Minister for Commerce & Industry Shri Suresh Prabhu. We believe that TERI's study will prove to be a milestone in promoting cycling and cycle industry in India. The report of the study will be released on 11 January, 2019, at Silver Oak, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.

This study commissioned by the All India Cycle Manufacturers’ Association (AICMA), aims to drive the policy intervention and promote cycling in the country. The study undertakes economic appraisal and quantifies various benefits of cycling like energy, emissions and health savings that could be realized from improved mode share of cycling. The study estimates that in an optimistic scenario shifting to cycling can result in an annual savings of up to 1.6% of India's GDP.

The report launch will be followed by a panel discussion on Encouraging cycling in India: Identifying barriers and interventions.
