National School Educators' Conference 2013

TERI organized the National School Educators' Conference 2013 from 28-30 October 2013 at New Delhi. This was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and supported by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India; Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India; Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, EdCIL (India) Limited; Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmBH; and The Green Schools Alliance. 

Fifth in the row, the conference this year focused on 'Innovation and Leadership for Education for Sustainable Development'. It aimed to encourage and motivate educators to bring in innovation in their teaching learning process and also develop their leadership skills so as to enable them to build a cadre of students ready to bring about positive changes for sustainable future. It provided a platform to educators for sharing their knowledge, capacity building and networking with multiple stakeholders such as practitioners, experts, policy makers, and corporates working in the area of Education for Sustainable Development. The conference was attended by 226 school teachers and principals from 23 States and Union Territories across the country. 

The Valedictory Session of the conference was graced by Mr Rajarshi Bhattacharya, Secretary, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and Dr R K Pachauri, Director-General, TERI.

During the conference, 'GRIHA-Prakriti' - a rating system for sustainable schools was also launched by Dr Leena Srivasatava, Vice Chancellor, TERI University and Honorary Executive Director, TERI.

Other eminent personalities present during the conference were Mr B M S Rathore, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India; Mr Nagendra Goyal, Deputy Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan; Mr Kartikeya V Sarabhai, Director, Centre of Environment Education; Dr CV Shimray, Lecturer, National Council for Educational Research and Training; Ms Malini Gupta, Deputy General Manager - CSR, JCB India Ltd.; Mr Jaideep Gokhale, Environment & Communications Director, South Asia Markets and Cluster Leader - Environment, South and South East Asia, Tetra Pak India Pvt. Ltd.; Mr V K Aggarwal, Executive Director, Power System Operation Corporation Limited and Dr Rajiv Seth, Registrar, TERI University.
