TERI hosted a side event of CEM 4 (Clean Energy Ministerial) on 'The Global Atlas for Solar and Wind Energy, and The Economic Value Creation of Solar and Wind Project' along with IRENA (International Renewable Energy Agency) and CEM Secretariat on April 15, 2013 at IHC, New Delhi.

The event was attended by representatives of Germany, Spain and Denmark Embassies besides those from REN-21 UNEP, GIZ and other agencies. Besides presentation on IRENA's Global Solar and Wind Atlas, TERI presented its pioneering work on Integrated RE resource assessment for Gujarat, which received a lot of attention. Mr Andres Hasselager, Senior Policy Advisor, Danish Ministry of Climate Change, Energy and Building chaired the first session.

The second half of the event focussed on the new project initiated by IRENA on 'Economic Value Creation of Solar and Wind Projects'. As project partner, TERI made a presentation on 'India's Experience in RE: An economic value creation perspective', covering the impact of solar and wind energy programs in urban and rural areas on job and wealth creation. Its clear differentiation of the perspective of economic development between the developed and developing countries was very well received. This session was chaired by Ms Rabia Ferroukhi, IRENA. Ms Henriette Schweierhof and Ms Martha Ekkert from Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), Government of Germany.
