In a unique North-South partnership, research institutes from five countries have come together to explore energy efficiency issues. While Green Budget Reform and PEERS involved Indian and Canadian collaborators, the Clean Development Mechanism component also included partners from Bangladesh, China, and Indonesia.

The BUET (Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology) is a government-funded university and is the leading institution in the country in engineering. Apart from its usual responsibilities of teaching and research in engineering and technology, it provides extensive consultancy services to both the public and private sectors on engineering, technology and related areas. Experts at BUET have been involved with several aspects of climate change research including greenhouse gas mitigation since the Earth Summit at Rio.

  Global Climate Change Institute, Tsinghua University


The GCCI (Global Climate Change Institute) is a representative research centre in Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, engaged in fundamental climate change policy study. It provides strategy advice, technical support and sound policy to national policy makers on mitigation of climate change. In particular, GCCI works on CDM policies, methodologies, technology options for CDM projects, project development and international cooperation on CDM as well as international negotiations under the Kyoto Protocol.
