The FESA (Framework for Energy Sustainability Assessment) has been developed to facilitate decision makers and the public in studying the transition to sustainable energy development and to foster a better integration of sustainability imperatives in energy sector policy in Canada and India.

FESA seeks to achieve this by

Identifying the key energy sustainability issues of current relevance to a country.
Tracking progress towards sustainability based on easily understood indicators and quantitative sustainability reference levels from the policy literature.
Assessing the extent of national policy implementation directed at the key issues.
Displaying the results of indicator trends and policy activity through a web-based interactive tool – the Energy Sustainability Gauge.
