Positions for DBT project with TERI

1. Senior Research Fellow

Applications are invited for the position of Senior Research Fellow for a DBT-sponsored, Government of India, project in Microbial Biotechnology Area at TERI

Qualifications First class M.Sc/ Ph D in Microbiology/Biotechnology and related subject.
Additional Qualifications Relevant experience in microbial fermentation techniques and quality control is desirable.
Experience 2-3 years of research experience preferably in microbial fermentation studies related to mass production of bacterial cultures. Exceptional candidates with lesser work experience can also be considered.
Nature of job Up scaling of fermentation processes.

2. Junior Research Fellow

Applications are invited for the position of two Junior Research Fellows for a DBT-sponsored project in the Microbial Biotechnology Area at TERI

Qualifications First class M Sc in Microbiology/Biotechnology or related subject areas

Experience in microbial fermentation and handling & maintenance of pure microbial cultures will be an added advantage.
Nature of job Handling microbial cultures, scale up of fermentatation process

3. Plant Engineer

Applications are invited for the position of one Plant Engineer for DBT-sponsored project in the Microbial Biotechnology Area at TERI

Qualifications First class BE or B Tech in electrical/electronics/instrumentation or related discipline

Plant automation and operation of industrial units
Experience 3-5 years of experience preferably in fermentation industry. Relevant experience in plant automation and independent handling of fermentation units and bioreactors in pharma or biotech plants will have an advantage.
Nature of job Handling, operation and maintenance of a fully automated 1000 L capacity fermentor

4. Plant Operator

Research Associate

Biomass Energy Technology Applications (BETA) Area

Job Responsibilities:
As research associate in the BETA area the incumbent will be required to work primarily on design development and field implementation of biomass energy projects. He will also be required to work on other projects of research/consultancy nature dealing with biomass energy as per the requirements of TERI, besides developing project proposals independently or jointly with other research groups. The other responsibilities include:

Interacting with the funding organizations/clients effectively for generating new projects and preparing detailed project proposals.
Undertake field-based activities.
Identify and develop new project opportunities independently.

Desired Profile (including soft skills)
Candidates with Master Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from reputed institute/university, having 3 – 4 years of experience preferably in research and development.

Sound technical background and analytical skills.
Flair for technical writing and ability to convert basic technical concepts/ideas into full-fledged proposals.
Proactive and enthusiastic approach.
Ability to work as a team.
Ability to take initiative.
Willingness to take responsibility to ensure timely completion of tasks.

Research Associate/ Associate Fellow

Biomass Energy Technology Applications (BETA) Area

Job Responsibilities:
As research associate in the BETA area the incumbent will be required to work primarily on biomass and liquid biofuels projects and the other lab related work. The candidate will be responsible for generating forward-looking strategy for development and commercialization of liquid biofuels.

Desired Profile (including soft skills):
Masters Degree in Chemistry/Bio-chemistry/Engineering/Biochemical Engineering with 2-3 years experience in preparation & characterization of liquid biofuels (including mixed alcohols) and hands-on research capabilities.

S/he should have working and theoretical knowledge of GC & HPLC, spectrophotometer, FTIR and other analytical techniques along with capability to design, set-up and operate lab and pilot test units.

M.Tech or Ph.D with experience in liquid biofuels research; knowledge of good laboratory practices and ISO would be an added advantage.

Besides being a harmonious team player, the candidate should have ability to
(a) Generate forward looking strategy for development and commercialization of liquid biofuels and
(b) Independently liaise with potential funding agencies. S/he should have good technical writing and communication skills.

Research Associate

Industrial Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Technologies (IEEST) Group, New Delhi

Education Bachelor or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from reputed institutes/universities
Additional qualification Preferably certified energy auditor by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency
Experience 3-4 years in energy audits or in maintenance department in industries.

TERI has vast experience in energy efficiency and conservation in Indian industries. Major interest of TERI’s IEEST group is in improving energy efficiency in industry through various activities like energy audits, capacity building & training, technology development, deployment and dissemination and feasibility studies. The group has a range of projects from large, medium and small-scale industries. TERI is the market leader in the field of energy audits in India with more than 600 detailed energy audits carried out across industry in India and abroad. TERI professionals engaged in this activity are well experienced and the institute has all the state-of-art equipments with a high degree of accuracy for use during field measurements.

Key Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be required to work primarily on energy audit projects. He/she will also be required to work on other projects of research/consultancy in energy conservation as per the requirements of TERI. The incumbent will also be required to prepare project proposals independently or jointly with other research groups for submission to various funding organizations. The specific responsibilities include the following:

Interact with the funding organizations/clients effectively for generating new projects and preparing detailed proposals
Undertake field visits to measure and monitor data
Analyze the measured data and prepare the reports
Prepare and present the project findings to the client
Evaluate the projects independently
Develop and maintain relationships with clients at all levels
Identify and develop new project opportunities independently
Conduct and manage training programmes on energy management

The Film and TV Unit is looking for media professionals to join the group, to conceptualize and execute high quality programmes on environment and sustainable development.

The following skills are desired
